Taecyeon, from KBS 2TV Wed-Thurs drama 'Cinderella's Sister,' is committed to using the Kyungsangdo dialect even when away from the cameras.Lee Sang Baek, from the drama's producer A-Story, said on the 18th, "Taecyeon uses the Kyungsangdo dialect on a regular basis in order to act as Jungwoo, who uses the dialect," and "We were worried because it's his first time acting, and his parts are not small, but Taecyeon is overcoming these challenges through his efforts," he said.
Taecyeon was born in Pusan [T/N: Pusan is in South Kyungsang Province, and therefore uses the Kyungsangdo dialect], but when he was in elementary school he immigrated to Boston, where he lived as a foreign student for about 7 years. His parents don't speak in the dialect, so Taecyeon was used to normal Korean and English, making the Kyungsangdo dialect like a foreign language to him.
One of Taecyeon's staff said, "Taecyeon speaks in dialect with 2PM members Wooyoung and Junsu, who are from Pusan and Daegu. [T/N: Pusan and Daegu both speak in strong dialects]. He has also watched movies by Kwak Kyung Taek and Yoon Je Kyoon, who are from Pusan, but he nurtures his self-confidence by speaking in dialect all day," it was said.
The producer said, "Up to the 4th episode, Taecyeon's role was played by a child actor. The director asked him to preserve the emotion of that actor, which he has faithfully followed. Everyone was surprised after seeing him portray emotion with his deep gaze when he finally stood in front of the camera.
